Former Stallions coach Paul Put officially took the reins of the Uganda selection this Thursday, November 2, 2023 with the aim of bouncing back for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Paul Put will start at the helm of Uganda during the two qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup with trips to Guinea (November 17) and Somalia (November 21).
He will lead his sixth different selection on the African continent after Gambia (2007-2011), Burkina Faso (2012-2015), Kenya (2017-2018), Guinea (2018-2019) and Congo-Brazzaville ( 2021-2023). In 2013, he reached the final of the African Cup of Nations with Burkina Faso.
Uganda has never qualified for a World Cup and will not play in the next CAN scheduled for January 13 to February 11, 2024 in Ivory Coast.
