On the sidelines of the second edition of the La voix de la Kora festival scheduled for December 14, 15 and 16, 2023 in Ouagadougou, the organizing committee has scheduled the major joints on Saturday, November 18, 2023.

According to Abdoulaye Traoré, better known under the nickname Kantala, artist musician and instrumentalist, initiator of the La voix de la kora festival, the objective is to highlight modern and traditional instrumental artists without exception.

After the success of the first edition held exclusively in Ouagadougou, and thanks to the financial support of the cultural and tourism development fund with the support of the European Union, the head of the festival is doing it again this time with two stages.

A first stage in Bobo-Dioulasso in April 2023 which kept all its promises, according to Kantala and a second stage which will take place from December 14 to 16, 2023 in Ouagadougou. Two sites were requisitioned for the occasion. These are Belle Étoile and the Napam Beogo space.

For this second edition, the organizers intend to work harder. To this end, a creative residency, master classes, school workshops and concerts are planned. “ This year we will have workshops in schools which will take place from November 28 to December 1 where we will introduce children to instruments.

After that, we will have master classes where we will train young musicians who play strings and it will take place at Napam Beogo. Afterwards, from December 11 to 16, we held a creative residency where a certain number of string musicians will meet to create pieces together which will be presented during the concerts. », and developed by Kantala.

An appointment is therefore given to music lovers from December 14 to 16 with a great line-up of instrumental musicians. Expected on stage are Tim Winsey, Seydou Koita, guitarist, Afro de king who plays the ngoni, Damo Fama, guitarist, Kalam who plays the kundé, Achille Ouattara, bassist, Drissa Dozo and the kundé blues group.

To close his remarks, Kantala launched a heartfelt cry to his fellow artists to support him so that this second edition of the La voix de la kora festival is a success.
