The World Health Organization has reported a 52 percent increase in the number of worldwide COVID-19 cases over the last 28 days. With more than 8½ lakh newly infected people and over 3 thousand deaths in this period, the virus continues to pose a threat globally.

In India, the situation is also concerning as the number of COVID-19 cases is slowly increasing again. In the past 24 hours until 8 am yesterday, 752 people were confirmed to be infected, marking the highest single-day spike since May 21.

Kerala has recorded the highest number of new cases at 265, and the number of people receiving treatment for COVID-19 is also on the rise, with 3,420 individuals currently undergoing treatment.

Tragically, the virus has also claimed lives, with one person reported dead the day before yesterday and four people dying yesterday, including two from Kerala, and one each from Rajasthan and Karnataka. The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 in India has now reached 5,33,332, with the total number of infections rising to 4 crore 50 lakh 7 thousand 964. On a positive note, 4 crore 44 lakh 71 thousand 212 people have recovered from the infection in the country.
