Washington DC: A plane carrying 166 passengers and seven crew members was grounded at a nearby airport after a cracked windshield was found. A United Airlines flight from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada to Dulles International Airport in Washington DC landed safely at Denver International Airport in Colorado.

The Federal Aviation Administration said cracks in airplane windshields are not uncommon and can occur on all models.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the cracks affect the outer pane of glass, and windshields are two to three inches thick and consist of multiple layers.
