“The invitation to me to become the acting minister of culture came from Dimitar Glavchev”, answered Nayden Todorov in the program “On Focus” on Nova TV when asked why he accepted this post for the second time.

It’s a caretaker government, it means a short horizon, it means I don’t have to change my life in the long term, he explained. And because it’s a short government, it’s very difficult, if a complete stranger comes in, it will take him about a month or two to get into the whole situation, he added.

Todorov explained that he and Glavchev met at a concert. “I was very grateful, very happy, of course, I thought a little, but I didn’t have any special hesitations,” explained the minister.

The official minister said that his predecessor, Krastyo Krastev, to a large extent, coped with the main task he had set himself – to calm the system. “We should not forget that it was during his time that the budget for culture was increased,” Todorov said.

On the occasion of the change of the director of the “Culture” Fund, the caretaker minister explained that he had finished a process that had already started and that the situation in the Fund was that a new director had been elected, and the old one had not yet been released.

Among the reasons for agreeing to take over the ministry, Nayden Todorov pointed out that there should be no upheaval and that important regulations, which are not yet a fact for the sector, be adopted after the changes in the Law on the Protection and Development of Culture.

On the occasion of the return to the state of two very valuable violins bought in the 1970s – “Stradivarius” and “Guarneri”, Minister Todorov said that a procedure will be created to give these instruments to other musicians. This was also the main reason for buying them, he recalled. “I believe that in order to achieve some kind of continuity, I would like this commission, which will choose the next ones, to include the people who have worked with these tools so far, I mean especially Mincho Minchev”, said Nayden Todorov.

The Acting Minister of Culture also commented on Iran’s attack on Israel. According to him, Bulgaria is part of an alliance that is expected to always react compactly. So I have no worries about what will happen. Since last night, the prime minister, together with the operational headquarters, have been notified and are continuously monitoring the situation, he pointed out.
