For three and a half weeks, Russia has been conducting near-continuous attacks on Ukraine‘s electricity infrastructure, leaving more than a million people without electricity.

The Tripillia thermal power station (TEC), which was one of the most important electricity producers in the Kyiv region, was destroyed in the Russian missile strike of April 11.

“There were 11 missiles. We destroyed the first seven. Four destroyed the Tripillia TPP. Why? Because there were zero missiles,” the president said in an interview with the American television channel PBS.

Recently, Ukraine has been increasingly pointing out the problems caused by the delay in military assistance, including anti-aircraft weapons, expected from allies.

Zelensky’s warnings come at a time when Ukraine’s fragile electricity system is under additional strain due to damage caused by storm zero.

“Due to bad weather conditions, 173 settlements in four regions have been left without electricity,” the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine announced on Tuesday.

The worst situation is in the Dnipropetrovsk region, where more than 15,000 people in 96 towns and villages have been left without electricity, the ministry said.
