It is reported from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications:
“Deputy Head of the RA Food Safety Inspection Authority Sona Tsarukyan and Head of Veterinary Medicine Department Arman Asatryan had a meeting with butchers.
The latter came to the Inspection Body to get answers to their pressing questions regarding the new regulations for the sale of slaughterhouse meat. In particular, they are worried about the fact that, with the legislative change coming into force on December 6, in the event that raw materials and products of animal origin obtained as a result of non-slaughterhouse fur are detected during state control, the sale of the entire batch will be suspended, and at the same time, a decision will be made to confiscate and destroy the batch.
According to Sona Tsarukyan, the deputy head of the inspection body, meat sellers play an important role in the farmer-slaughterhouse-butcher-supervisor structure, they must be claimants, taking and selling only meat with appropriate documents and identification. Only as a result of joint actions of all circles, it will be possible to regulate the sector and sell safe meat products to consumers.
The possible ways of regulating the process were discussed, the butchers presented the main issues that concern them, that is, the insufficient number of slaughterhouses providing fur services, the improper quality of the offered meat, the irregularity of orders, etc.
As Arman Asatryan, the head of the veterinary medicine department of the State Medical Center, pointed out, these problems are in the field of business regulation, and the function of the Inspection Body is to control that meat is placed on the consumer’s table, the safety of which is guaranteed by slaughterhouse origin.
The food safety inspection body urges business owners to work exclusively within the law, to purchase or sell only meat of slaughterhouse origin, accompanied by a veterinary certificate of form N 5, excluding the purchase of meat of unknown origin or with false documents.
The amendment to the law “On Amendments to the Law on State Control of Food Safety” also established that the expenses related to the destruction of raw materials and products of animal origin obtained as a result of seized non-slaughterhouse fur shall be paid at the expense of the business entity, and in the case of the latter’s refusal to pay the expenses: by the authorized body, later by carrying out the collection by judicial order”.
