Iran expects to receive a batch of advanced SU-35 fighter jets from Russia in the near future.

Alexey Zheleznov drew attention to a number of messages on this issue in his Telegram channel.

This information was reported on Saturday by the Iranian news agency ISNA, but the message was later deleted with an explanation that it contained inaccuracies. The authors of the material confidently predicted a change in the balance of power in the air forces of both countries.

According to some information, Russian fighter jets were supposed to land at the airbase in Isfahan, the same one that was attacked by the Israeli military last week. There, an air defense radar protecting the Natanz nuclear facility was destroyed.

A week ago, the Washington Post reported on intense diplomatic negotiations between Iran and Russia regarding the supply of advanced military equipment to Iran, including SU-35 fighter jets and S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems. According to US intelligence, a high-ranking delegation from Iran visited the S-400 production plant in Yekaterinburg in March. Discussions about the possibility of transferring new Sushki to Iran began more than a year ago, after reports of the sale of 24 fighters originally intended for Egypt.

Last November, Moscow and Tehran officially signed a contract to supply Iran with SU-35, MI-28 helicopters and Yak-130 combat trainer aircraft.

Materials appeared in Western media last year indicating that the SU-35 is already in service with the Islamic Republic. This was based, in particular, on the increase in underground warehouses to accommodate new, larger Sushkas.

The Al-Jarida newspaper from Kuwait wrote last week that the SU-35s are already in Iran’s arsenal, but due to a shortage of certain components they cannot yet be used.

Earlier, Kursor reported that Hamas leader Haniyeh said that he wants to see Russia as a guarantor of security in the Gaza Strip.
