On Wednesday, April 24, the US Senate approved a bill providing $26 billion in security assistance to Israel. The head of the Israeli diplomatic department, Israel Katz, reacted to this event. He expressed gratitude to the US Senate for the decision and pointed out that this aid package demonstrates the strong alliance between the US and Israel in the fight against terrorism.

Israel Hayom writes about this.

“I thank the U.S. Senate for passing the Israel aid package tonight with an overwhelming bipartisan majority. As we mark 200 days since the barbaric terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7, Israel and the United States stand united in the fight against terrorism, defending our democracy and shared values,” the minister said.

The US Senate voted in favor of the legislation with an overwhelming majority of 79 to 18. The package includes $4 billion for defense systems such as the Iron Dome and David’s Sling, as well as $3.5 billion for the purchase of weapons and ammunition for Israel.

The legislation also includes $1.2 billion for the development of Israel’s Iron Beam directed energy system, adding to previously approved funds for missile defense cooperation.

Biden noted that this step is necessary both to help Ukraine in the face of bombing by the Russian Federation, and for Israel, which is faced with attacks from Iran. The head of the White House assured that he would sign the law in the near future.

Earlier, “Cursor” wrote that the UK began to consider the possibility of banning the export of weapons to Israel.
