Rescue teams and medics announced the killing of 16 people from two families in Israeli raids on the southern city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip, after three Israeli soldiers were killed in an attack targeting the Kerem Shalom crossing that was claimed by Hamas.
Medical sources confirmed the outcome, noting that the two attacks occurred on Sunday evening in “Yabna refugee camp and in the Al-Salam neighborhood in eastern Rafah.”
These Israeli raids came after three Israeli soldiers were killed and 12 others were injured in a missile attack targeting the Kerem Shalom crossing.
Hamas fired ten rockets towards the Kerem Shalom area along the border between Israel and Gaza on Sunday afternoon, and the Israeli army acknowledged the killing of the three dead soldiers, three sergeants. While Soroka Medical Center received 10 wounded in the attack, including three in serious condition, two in moderate condition, and five in mild condition.
In response to the missile attacks, Israel announced, on Sunday, the closure of the Kerem Shalom border crossing between it and Gaza, in front of humanitarian aid trucks after it was targeted by missiles, after the Hebrew state reopened the crossing at the end of April, allowing aid coming from Jordan to reach the besieged northern Gaza Strip. .
The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, announced on Sunday that the Israeli authorities had prevented him from entering the Gaza Strip, for the second time since the outbreak of the war on October 7.
“This week, for the second time, they refused me entry into Gaza, as I intended to be with our colleagues in UNRWA, including those on the front lines,” Lazzarini wrote on X.
