Head of the Supreme Council of State, Mohamed Takala, renewed his commitment to the Cairo Agreement with Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, including the provisions related to the formation of a new government.
Takala added in an interview with the BBC that the 6+6 committee charged with drafting election laws deviated from its course after returning to Tripoli and Benghazi and introducing many amendments to the consensuses reached in Abu Znika, Morocco, according to him.
Takala pointed out that disagreements with the Speaker of the House of Representatives regarding the state and how to manage it can be resolved at the disagreement table.
Takala considered that Hammad’s government was not a legitimate government from the beginning, and that the House of Representatives recognized it within the framework of what he called political wrangling and letters to the Prime Minister of the Unity Government, Abdel Hamid Dabaiba, he said.
Takala explained that his dealings with Dabaiba came within the framework of international recognition of his government, and the Council of State’s recognition of it as well, and in the context of the Council’s dealings with other executive and legislative state institutions, as he put it.
Takala pointed out that Batelli’s resignation was due to his inability to withstand foreign interference, adding that he did not try to bring the viewpoints closer between the House of Representatives and the State, and did not bless what they reached under the auspices of the Arab League.
