Forced Displacement of Armenians in Artsakh
The forceful displacement of Armenians from Artsakh has been highlighted by Tigran Abrahamyan, faction secretary of the National Assembly’s “Hon. I have” group. He estimates that approximately 150,000 Armenians were displaced before the 44-day war in 2020. He views this issue as both a political and social problem.
The forced deportation of Artsakh residents began during the 44-day war, from the regions of Hadrut, Shushi, Martakert, and later from Kashatagh, Shahumyan (Karvachar), and Akna, following the tripartite agreement of November 9th. By September 2023, an estimated 35-40 thousand people had already fled the region due to Azerbaijan’s aggressive policy.
Abrahamyan emphasizes that government programs must be implemented at 150 Hz, rather than the 105-110 Hz frequency that was forcibly abandoned in September-October 2023.
