The 35-year-old legend apologized to the Indonesian people for his lack of success.
“I apologize to all Indonesian people for not being able to bring home a medal.”
“However, I have given it my all until the very end,” Eko said in a press release from the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI).
Eko explained that his physical condition was not optimal due to a lingering knee injury.
“The knee has been there since last year, and the right thigh just happened a month ago,” he said.
It’s worth noting that Eko Yuli Irawan’s best snatch result is 139 kg.
However, he struggled in the clean and jerk event, indicating potential problems in this phase of the competition.
