On December 27, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Armenia Nariman Mohammed Sharif Al Mulla. they report from the National Assembly.
Welcoming the ambassador in the parliament, Hakob Arshakyan noted that during the 25-year history of the establishment of diplomatic relations, a strong and dynamically developing cooperation was formed between the two countries, based on the warm ties of the two friendly peoples. The ambassador, thanking for the warm reception, noted that in a number of fields the two countries have great unrealized potential and the upcoming joint activities should be aimed at the activation of cooperation.
The role of parliamentary diplomacy was also emphasized on both sides. In this context, Hakob Arshakyan emphasized the role of parliamentary friendship groups as a unique bridge of mutual understanding and mutual trust, for establishing a closer dialogue between the legislative bodies of the two countries. He expressed his belief that a new page of relations between the parliaments of the two countries will open, based on partnership and great prospects.
In order to deepen the bilateral political dialogue and ensure the stable progress of cooperation, Hakob Arshakyan also emphasized mutual visits, which promote the continuous strengthening of relations and create a favorable basis for mutually beneficial economic and investment cooperation. As prospective directions of cooperation, the NA Vice-President singled out the fields of tourism, infrastructure, renewable energy, construction, agriculture, food industry, as well as the fields of high technologies, digitization, cyber security, and innovation.
According to Hakob Arshakyan, the weekly direct flights between the two countries reaching around 30 significantly contribute to the activation of bilateral business ties, tourism, cultural and decentralized cooperation. In this context, the NA vice-president noted that the protocol on the cancellation of UAE visas for Armenian citizens will also play an important role in the development of bilateral cooperation, the bill on the ratification of which was adopted in the extraordinary NA session convened on December 22 and has already been signed by the RA president. Mariam Poghosyan and Tsovinar Vardanyan, members of the RA NA Armenia-United Arab Emirates friendship group, took part in the meeting.
