Italy resumed issuing all types of visas to Russians, including tourist visas, from March 1, according to the country’s visa center in Moscow. Submission of documents is carried out by appointment.

Documents for issuing a visa should be submitted to the visa center no earlier than six months before the start of the planned trip. Seafarers who issue a document for service must submit documents no earlier than nine months and, as a rule, no later than 15 calendar days before the start of the trip.

It is clarified that entry into Italy is possible with a passenger location form (PLF, Passenger Locator Form) and a PCR or express test.

Applications for the renewal of Italian tourist visas that have expired between January 1, 2020 and now are “pending until further notice from the Consulate General of Italy.”

From March 1 to March 31, Italy lifted restrictions on entry into the country for Russians. As the Consulate General reported, in addition to the PLF questionnaire, one of the following documents is required to enter the country: a valid certificate of vaccination against COVID-19 with a drug approved by the European Medicines Agency, a negative PCR test not older than 72 hours, a rapid antigen test not older than 48 hours or a certificate of the transferred coronavirus. Tourists without proper documents will have to comply with a five-day quarantine, and then pass a PCR test or a rapid test.

Because of the military operation in Ukraine, Italy followed the example of most other European countries and closed its skies to Russian aircraft. Russia responded in kind. Direct flights to Italy are not operated, the country can be reached with a transfer in Istanbul.
