According to the ILNA agency, Iran will sign an agreement on a free trade zone with the Eurasian Economic Union.

“I think Iran will try to allocate some economic zones to EAEU, either in the format of free economic zones, or in the format of special economic zones, probably in the coastal areas of the Caspian Sea, there is also talk about the Armenian-Iranian border section, if the Meghri free economic zone is launched.” , – Iranologist Garik Misakyan said in a conversation with Aysor.am, emphasizing that the main goal is the development of land trade with the Eurasian Economic Union.

According to him, the main problem is the development of relations with EAEU, particularly with Russia.

“Taking into account the recent rapprochement of Iran-Russia relations, this can be considered another positive step by Iran in the direction of expanding cooperation with Russia on international platforms as well,” he said.

According to Garik Misakyan, if the free economic zone of Meghri is launched, it will give additional importance to the Armenian-Iranian border.

“As for the so-called Zangezur Corridor project, when the spiritual leader of Iran emphasized in the presence of Erdogan and Putin that the Armenian-Iranian border is a border of millennia, it should not be violated, after that all Iran’s actions are aimed at canceling the so-called corridor project, whether it is either by providing some roads to Azerbaijan through its own territory or by developing relations with Armenia. In this way, Iran is trying to give additional importance to the Armenian-Iranian border, both for the domestic audience and the international community, so that the project called the Zangezur Corridor will fail, no matter how it is presented,” he said;
