New Delhi : External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday termed the conflict in West Asia as a matter of “deep concern”, saying in a globalized world, conflict anywhere creates problems everywhere. He said this in response to a question after delivering the Sardar Patel lecture organized by ‘IC Center for Governance’. This comment of Jaishankar has come in the background of intensification of Israel-Hezbollah conflict and Israel-Hamas war.
We are incurring losses: Jaishankar
He said that the conflict (in West Asia) has intensified. We saw the terrorist attack, then the reaction, then we saw what happened in Gaza, now we are seeing it in Lebanon, the conflict between Israel and Iran. The Houthi shelling in the Red Sea, it’s actually hurting us. Jaishankar said that it is not that someone remains neutral in the conflict and you benefit.

The whole world is worried
He said that freight expenses have increased, insurance rates have increased, exports, foreign trade are being affected, oil prices have increased. The market fell after the Iranian missile attack. “Conflicts can be used opportunistically, I don’t deny that, but in a globalized world that is so connected, conflict anywhere creates problems everywhere,” the minister said. This will affect the supply in some way or the other.
