A celebration was held in front of the Azerbaijan National Conservatorydedicated National Music Daywhich is celebrated on September 18.
As Day.Az reports, the event was attended by the rector of the Azerbaijan National Conservatory, People’s Artist Siyavush Kerimirector of the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli (BMA), People’s Artist of the USSR and Azerbaijan Farhad BadalbeyliDeputy Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan, People’s Artist Murad Huseynovpresented the culture, teaching staff, students.
The speakers noted the importance of National Music Day in preserving and promoting the country’s culture.
It was emphasized that in 1995, the great leader Heydar Aliyev signed a decree according to which National Music Day began to be celebrated in the republic at the state level.
National Music Day has gone down in history as the birthday of the outstanding composer, musicologist, teacher, publicist, playwright, founder of Azerbaijani professional musical art, People’s Artist of the USSR Uzeyir Hajibeyli (1885-1948). Also on this day, another outstanding representative of Azerbaijani music, the great composer Muslim Magomayev Sr. (1885-1937), was born.
Guests were presented with a concert program with the participation of students of the conservatory – a group of folk instruments, performers of mugham and folk songs. Then the participants took part in the symposium “Ancient Heritage – the Study of Music and Dance Art,” dedicated to Uzeyir Hajibeyli and held in the large assembly hall of the conservatory.
Let us remind you that from September 18 to 28, on the occasion of National Music Day, the XVI International Music Festival named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, will be held. Famous performers and groups from Azerbaijan, the USA, Russia, Germany, Spain, Austria, Korea, Turkey, Brazil, India and other countries will take part in the festival. As part of the festival, concerts, performances, exhibitions, scientific conferences and master classes will be held in Baku, Shusha, Ganja, Lankaran, Gabala, Nakhchivan and Shamkir.
