The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan, People’s Artist Murad Huseynovrector of the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli (BMA), People’s Artist of the USSR and Azerbaijan Farhad Badalbeyliprofessor BMA Khuraman Gasimova.

It was emphasized that in 1995, the great leader Heydar Aliyev signed a decree according to which National Music Day began to be celebrated in the republic at the state level.

National Music Day has gone down in history as the birthday of the outstanding composer, musicologist, teacher, publicist, playwright, founder of Azerbaijani professional musical art, People’s Artist of the USSR Uzeyir Hajibeyli (1885-1948).

It was noted that the great composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli is an outstanding personality who made a great contribution to the development and promotion of national musical art, he raised Azerbaijani music to the world level. The Azerbaijani state always treats the creative heritage of the great composer with great attention and care. Also on this day, another outstanding representative of Azerbaijani music, the great composer Muslim Magomayev Sr. (1885-1937), was born. For the first time, a unique audio recording of the great composer Dmitry Shostakovich about Uzeir Hajibeyli was presented.

Next, there was a performance by the Separate Exemplary Military Orchestra of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan under the direction of Honored Artist Colonel-Lieutenant Rufat Akhundzade and the State Choir Chapel under the direction of People’s Artist Gyulbdazhi Imanova.

Let us remind you that from September 18 to 28, on the occasion of National Music Day, the XVI International Music Festival named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, will be held. Famous performers and groups from Azerbaijan, the USA, Russia, Germany, Spain, Austria, Korea, Turkey, Brazil, India and other countries will take part in the festival. As part of the festival, concerts, performances, exhibitions, scientific conferences and master classes will be held in Baku, Shusha, Ganja, Lankaran, Gabala, Nakhchivan and Shamkir.
