Apple Music Expands Entertainment Footprint with New Culver City Studio
A new creative hub is coming to Southern California, as Apple Music announced Monday the opening of a 15,000-square-foot studio in Culver City this summer, signaling a deepening investment in the entertainment industry. The facility will feature a 4,000-square-foot soundstage designed for live performances and fan events.
Apple Doubles Down on Creative Spaces
The new studio represents a notable step in Apple’s strategy to foster a closer relationship with artists and content creators. According to a company release, the space is intended to be a place where artists can “create, connect, and share thier vision.” The Culver City location will house two radio studios for live interviews and performances, a dedicated spatial audio mixing room, and specialized booths for songwriting and podcasting. Additional rooms will be available to support artists in developing content across various mediums.
The studio’s location in the Hayden Tract neighborhood of culver City is no accident. The area has become a magnet for creative industries, and the building itself was designed by Los Angeles architect Eric Owen Moss, renowned for his distinctive and sculptural designs throughout the city.
Expanding Presence in Southern California
This investment isn’t an isolated incident. Apple, headquartered in Cupertino, California, is actively expanding its real estate presence in Southern California. The tech giant is currently constructing a new office complex on the border of Culver city and los Angeles, intended to house its television streaming service, Apple TV+. This expansion underscores Apple’s commitment to becoming a major player in the entertainment landscape.
The move comes at a time when technology is rapidly reshaping the creative process. the rise of artificial intelligence and othre innovations are forcing tech companies to demonstrate their support for artists and creators.
Acknowledging Past Missteps, Building for the Future
Apple’s commitment to creativity hasn’t always been seamless. Last year, the company issued an apology after an iPad Pro advertisement sparked controversy. the ad depicted a hydraulic press crushing musical instruments, which some critics interpreted as a symbol of technology suppressing artistic expression. while the commercial aimed to highlight the iPad Pro’s thin design, the backlash prompted apple to reassess its messaging.
The new studio is intended to serve as a central hub within a growing global network of creative spaces. Apple already operates similar facilities in New York, Tokyo, Berlin, Paris, and Nashville, with plans to open additional studios in the near future.
Apple Music Celebrates a Decade of Streaming
Alongside the studio announcement, Apple revealed plans to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of Apple Music Radio. Starting july 1, the service will begin a countdown of its top 500 most-streamed songs. Furthermore, Apple Music will introduce a new feature allowing listeners to revisit and stream their most-played songs since joining the service through a “Replay All Time” playlist.
These initiatives demonstrate Apple’s ongoing efforts to enhance the user experience and celebrate the platform’s musical legacy.
