Former NBA Players to Showcase Skills in 2025 Summer League
The 2025 NBA Summer League will feature at least three athletes with prior NBA experience, offering fans a glimpse of established talent alongside rising stars. The league, a crucial proving ground for rookies and developing players, will unfold across three distinct events this July.
The upcoming Summer League schedule includes the California Classic, running from July 5-8, alongside the Salt Lake Summer League, also taking place July 5-8. The main event, the NBA 2K26 Summer League, will tip off in Las Vegas from July 10-20.
Among the former professionals confirmed to participate are Riley Minix (Morehead State), now with the San Antonio Spurs; Johni Broome (Morehead State/Auburn), who will suit up for the Philadelphia 76ers; and Will Richard (Belmont/Florida), joining the Golden State Warriors.
These players represent a diverse range of collegiate backgrounds, with both Minix and Broome hailing from Morehead State. Richard’s participation provides an opportunity to observe his transition after playing for Belmont and Florida.
The Summer League serves as a vital platform for players to demonstrate their abilities to team personnel and potentially earn a spot on a regular-season roster. It also allows teams to evaluate player combinations and refine their strategies before the start of the 2025-2026 NBA season.
This year’s events promise to be highly competitive, offering basketball enthusiasts a preview of the league’s future and a chance to witness established players vying for continued success.
