Deadly Russian Attacks Target Dnipropetrovsk Region, Claiming Lives and Igniting Fires

A massive overnight assault by Russian forces on the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine has resulted in at least three deaths and five injuries, with widespread damage reported across multiple communities. The attacks, which occurred on the night of July 26, involved a combination of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), according to regional officials.

Intense Overnight Barrage

The attacks began late Thursday night, with a senior official describing the situation as “a terrible night” marked by a “massive combined attack.” Ukrainian air defenses reportedly intercepted 7 missiles and 26 UAVs, but unfortunately, some projectiles evaded interception and struck targets within the region. The extent of the damage is still being assessed, but initial reports indicate significant impact to civilian infrastructure and industrial facilities.

Casualties and Damage in Dnipro City

The city of Dnipro bore the brunt of the attack. A man was killed and a woman injured as a result of strikes within the city limits. According to reports, a high-rise building sustained significant damage, and industrial enterprises were also impacted. Fires broke out in multiple locations, including a parking lot where vehicles were ignited.

Widespread Fires Across the Region

Beyond Dnipro, several fires were reported throughout the Dnipropetrovsk region. A shopping center was engulfed in flames, and fires also erupted at an industrial enterprise and in areas of dry grass. A separate incident resulted in the death of one person and injuries to four others in the wider Dnipropetrovsk region.

Targeted Communities and Ongoing Threats

The aggressor also targeted specific communities with precision strikes. UAABs (presumably referring to unmanned aerial attack aircraft) were used to attack the Pokrovskaya community in the Sinelnikovsky district, resulting in a fire. Additionally, an FPV-drone struck the Pokrovskaya community in the Nikopol district, and the manganese community also came under attack.

The ongoing attacks underscore the continued threat faced by civilians in Ukraine and the relentless nature of the conflict. The situation remains fluid, and authorities are working to assess the full extent of the damage and provide assistance to those affected.
