Pantera Reschedules Tour Dates Following the Passing of Heavy Metal Icon Ozzy Osbourne
A wave of grief has swept through the heavy metal community, prompting Pantera to adjust its 2025 tour schedule in remembrance of Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary vocalist of Black Sabbath. The band cited a deep personal connection to Osbourne, describing him as “family” in a statement released on July 26, 2025.
A Profound Loss for the Metal World
Osbourne, widely considered a founding father of the heavy metal genre and its numerous subgenres, passed away leaving a void in the music world. Pantera, deeply influenced by Black Sabbath’s pioneering sound, announced the adjustments to their tour dates as a mark of respect and a period of mourning. “Ozzy wasn’t just a legend who shaped the very foundation of heavy metal and inspired Pantera from the beginning — he was family. A mentor, a brother, and a constant presence in our lives both on and off the stage. The bond we shared with him ran far deeper than music,” the band shared via their official Instagram page.
The band emphasized the need for time to grieve, stating, “In light of this profound loss, we need time and space to grieve — to be with our families, our crew, and each other as we process and honor the life of someone who meant so much to us.”
