# Big Brother Star Mickey Lee Dies at 35 Following flu Complications
A beloved figure from the reality television series Big brother has passed away, leaving fans and fellow cast members in mourning.
Mickey Lee, a fan-favorite contestant from Season 27 of Big Brother, died on Christmas Day at the age of 35 after suffering a series of cardiac arrests stemming from complications with the flu. Her family confirmed the tragic news in a statement shared on Instagram.
Lee’s family described her as someone who “captured the hearts of audiences nationwide” with her “authenticity, strength and spirit.” They added that she will be remembered for the “joy she brought into the lives of so many and for the genuine connections she formed both on and off screen.”
According to a GoFundMe campaign launched to assist with mounting medical expenses, Lee had been hospitalized in the ICU for several days prior to her death. As of Friday, Dec. 26, the fundraiser had already exceeded $32,000 in donations, demonstrating the outpouring of support for Lee and her family. The GoFundMe description,dated Dec. 22, detailed the “enormous emotional and financial strain” the family was facing due to hospital bills and ongoing care costs.
While Lee did not win her season of Big Brother, she quickly emerged as a central figure, forging strong alliances through her leadership and interpersonal skills. She competed alongside reality television veteran Rachel Reilly and eventual winner Ashley Hollis.
Reilly expressed her grief on Instagram, writing, “Thank you for bringing your light to the world. You will be missed. This doesn’t feel real. heartbroken that you’re gone. You’ll always have a place in my heart.”
A History of Health Challenges
Julie Chen,the host of Big Brother,shared a poignant tribute,revealing that Lee had previously discussed important health challenges with her. Chen recounted a recent interview on God 101 where Lee disclosed she was born with a hole in her heart and had survived a near-fatal ATV accident as an adult. “Last night God brought her home,” chen wrote. “Rest In Peace dear Mickey. I will see you again on the other side in eternity.” She also offered prayers for Lee’s family and loved ones.
Lee’s family expressed their gratitude for the prayers and support received during her hospitalization and requested privacy as they navigate their grief. “The family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who has offered prayers, love, and support during this incredibly difficult time,” they wrote. “Your kindness has been felt and is sincerely appreciated.”
They concluded their statement with a promise that “Mickey’s light, legacy, and impact will never be forgotten.”
