Santiago, Chile – The Santiago Metro is gearing up for a significant expansion, with new lines 7, 8, and 9 set to connect previously underserved areas of the capital. Line 9, in particular, is poised to become one of the network’s largest, stretching 27 kilometers and aiming to benefit approximately two million residents.

Santiago Metro Line 9: A Phased Rollout

The first section of Line 9, which includes 10 stations linking Santiago and La Pintana, is slated for inauguration in 2030. Following this, the second section, comprising four stations from Recoleta to Santiago, is projected to open in 2032. The final section, adding five stations between La Pintana and Puente Alto, is expected to be operational by 2033.

Connecting Eight Communes

Once completed, Line 9 is designed to considerably reduce travel times, connecting eight communes across the capital in approximately 35 minutes. The communes slated for connection are Recoleta, Santiago, San Miguel, San Joaquín, La Granja, San Ramón, La pintana, and Puente Alto.
