Ukraine, however, like its neighbors, faces serious climate change, Svetlana Krakovskaya, a representative of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Climate Change, said in an interview with NV.UA radio. Due to warming, the intensity of showers has already increased, since the atmosphere is able to retain more moisture due to the rise in temperature. The clouds become more powerful, and with them precipitation.
Ukraine because of its free-flowing location – the almost complete absence of mountains, remoteness from the oceans, later than others to notice climatic changes. The climate in some places will become more humid, and somewhere more dry. A climatic rift will pass through Ukraine. Therefore, the country will have to prepare for both scenarios.
Meanwhile, in the subtropics, the number of days with temperatures above 35 degrees is increasing. “Now I can say that, probably, we will somehow be able to avoid this tough scenario, because it really is hell,” said Krakowska. Ukraine will be affected by the changes, but not to the same extent as other states. In the scenarios, there is an increase in temperature in various regions of the world by 1.5, 2, 3 and even four degrees. But such growth will be felt differently everywhere; other factors are important here.
Krakowska noted that global warming is changing the planet. The reason for this warming was the economic activity of the rapidly growing population of mankind. “If we take this energy from energy sources that will increase the concentration of carbon in the atmosphere, increase the greenhouse effect, here we are,” the scientist noted.
