Regina Hall to Receive Gold Derby Spotlight Award at SCAD Savannah Film Festival

Teh SCAD Savannah Film Festival will honor award-winning actress Regina Hall with the Gold Derby Spotlight Award, recognizing her performance in the critically acclaimed action-comedy One Battle After Another.
The annual festival, a significant event on the film industry calendar, will present the award following a screening of One Battle After Another on Sunday, October 26. The presentation will be followed by a conversation featuring Hall and Cassandra Kulukundis,recipient of the festival’s Outstanding Achievement in Casting Award,moderated by Debra Birnbaum,editor-in-chief of Gold Derby.
“The SCAD Savannah Film Festival is thrilled to continue its tradition of honoring extraordinary talent by presenting this award to Regina Hall,” stated a festival spokesperson. “Her powerful performance in One Battle After Another highlights her incredible range, depth, and lasting influence as a storyteller. We are so proud to partner with Gold Derby to celebrate her remarkable career and artistic excellence.”
Hall shares the screen in One Battle After Another with a stellar cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Teyana Taylor, Chase Infiniti, and D.W. Moffett, who also serves as chair of film and television at SCAD. Hall is widely recognized for her roles in films such as Support the girls, Girls Trip, and the Best Man, as well as her work on Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers.
Expanding Creative Horizons: Hall’s Upcoming Projects and production Venture
Beyond her acting accolades, Hall is actively expanding her creative portfolio. She has several projects in development, including The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, Judgment Day, The Five Star Weekend, and Scary Movie 6.
Hall’s ambitions extend to producing as well. In 2022, she founded Rh Negative, a production company that secured an exclusive first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios in 2024.Rh Negative focuses on unscripted true crime, docuseries, and game genres. Hall quickly established herself as a force in production, having produced and starred in Master and Honk for Jesus, Save Your Soul, both of which were featured at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival.
SCAD Savannah Film Festival: A Hub for Cinematic talent
The SCAD Savannah Film Festival, presented by the savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), is a premier cinematic event attracting over 75,000 attendees each year.running from October 25 thru November 2 across SCAD’s historic Savannah venues, the eight-day festival showcases the work of both established professionals and emerging student filmmakers.
The festival has gained recognition as a key stop on the path to the Academy Awards, hosting exclusive screenings, competition films, feature films, documentaries, shorts, animated films, panel discussions, and workshops. Presented in Savannah, a growing film hub in the Southeast, the festival champions quality filmmaking from both autonomous and studio productions.
