Apple’s iOS 26.2 Update Prioritizes European Users with Return of Live Translation Feature

Apple is rolling out the second release candidate for iOS 26.2, following the launch of iOS 26.1 earlier this week. According to a company release, the technology is now available “without preconditions,” signaling Apple’s commitment to complying with the DMA’s regulations.

Sleep Score Redesign
iOS 26.2 introduces a redesigned sleep score, offering a more granular and informative assessment of sleep quality. The scoring system has been updated as follows:
- Very Poor: 0-40 (previously 0-29)
- Low: 41-60 (previously 30-49)
- Acceptable: 61-80 (previously 50-69)
- Good: 81-95 (previously 70-89)
- Very Good: 96-100 (previously 90-100)
The new score considers sleep duration, bedtime consistency, and interruptions, providing a more holistic assessment of sleep quality.
Customizable lock Screen with Adjusted Liquid Glass Effect
iOS 26.2 introduces a slider allowing users to fine-tune the “Liquid Glass” effect on the lock screen. When selecting the “Glass” or “Opaque” options, the slider controls the transparency or frosted appearance of the time display.The “Ink” (formerly “matte”) option, which reduces the Liquid Glass effect for a more uniform look, remains available alongside traditional clock text color choices.
Additional Updates Across Apple Ecosystem
The beta also includes several other notable improvements:
- Redesigned Apple News: A new interface features swift buttons for accessing key sections like sports, politics, economy, and cooking, with the “following” tab now separated from search.
- AI-Powered Podcasts: The Podcasts app integrates an artificial intelligence system that automatically generates chapters, links to mentioned podcasts, and provides direct access to links discussed in episodes.
- Urgent Reminders with Alarms: Users can now associate dedicated alarms or timers with “Urgent” reminders, complete with snooze functionality and a countdown on the lock screen.
- Freeform Collaboration: The visual collaboration app now supports editable tables,enhancing productivity.
- Enhanced password Management: A new section in the Passwords settings allows users to manage sites where credentials are not saved,providing greater control over exclusions.
- Accessibility Improvements: Users can now flash the screen, in addition to the rear LED, to signal incoming notifications.
- Improved Safety Alerts: A new section in Settings provides enhanced management of emergency alerts, such as earthquakes or imminent threats, with improved localization accuracy.
Availability and Cautions
The public beta of iOS 26.2 is currently available to participants in the Apple Beta Software program. the final version is anticipated to launch in mid-December, compatible with all iPhones that support iOS 26. However, Apple cautions that, as a beta release, the software may contain bugs and instability, and is not recommended for devices used for critical tasks.
