Formula E: Reigning Champions Prepare for Next-Gen Competition
porsche enters the 2025/2026 Formula E season as the defending team and manufacturer world champion – its seventh title. The factory team will be joined by US customer team Andretti Formula E, utilizing the efficient Porsche 99X Electric GEN3 Evo, and Cupra Kiro, which will continue to rely on previous-generation GEN3 technology. A key driver change sees Swiss racer Nico Müller moving to the factory team, replacing António Félix da Costa, who contributed to three world championship titles for Porsche in recent seasons.
The upcoming twelfth Formula E season, beginning December 6th in São Paulo, marks the final run for the current regulations. Porsche is already heavily invested in development of the GEN4 vehicle, promising the largest performance increase in Formula E history, slated for introduction in the 2026/2027 season. The Porsche 911 Cup will see a significant change in 2026, with customer teams competing with the new Porsche 911 Cup for the first time alongside European Formula 1 weekends. This 520 hp vehicle will also debut in the Carrera Cups in Germany, North America, and Asia Pacific. A joint rollout of 50 new cars is scheduled for early March at the Formula 1 circuit in Barcelona, alongside the carrera World Cup. Porsche anticipates up to 100 drivers participating in these one-make cup series.
Recognizing Excellence: The Porsche Cup
The Dutchman Loek Hartog was awarded the prestigious Porsche Cup on november 29th, prevailing against 497 competitors from 53 nations. Hartog’s achievements in the GT World Challenge Europe, Intercontinental GT Challenge, and a podium finish at the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring earned him the title and a €150,000 prize.Porsche Motorsport is awarding over €280,000 in prize money to successful private drivers.
