Art Reflects Our Digital Lives and Societal Questions
The Delaware contemporary’s upcoming exhibits explore the intersection of art,social media,and challenging questions about women’s roles in society.

Following its biennial exhibition focused on the intersection of art and artificial intelligence, the Contemporary is now turning its attention to more immediate societal concerns. One exhibit, Creative Influence(r), directly tackles the evolving roles of social media influencers and their impact on the art world.
“I think it really makes the way for us to have a conversation, about how we are looking at contemporary art now that we have all kind of lived in this digital world for so long,” says Shefon Taylor, the museum’s Communications and Marketing Director. “And that beyond displaying art on digital platforms, how are artists also taking their digital practices and turning them into contemporary art?”
Another exhibition, Constellation of Belonging, curated by Taylor, features work from two artists who are posing difficult questions about the control of women’s bodies. the exhibit promises to be a thought-provoking exploration of a sensitive and important topic.
Taylor emphasizes that contemporary art excels at asking these kinds of challenging, relevant questions-even questions about the nature of contemporary art itself. “We’re having a conversation about meaning and then how to engage with it at every level,” she said.
Alongside Creative Influence(r),the exhibitions This Place Meant and Constellation of Belonging will open to the public on January 16 and remain on display through late April.
