A new record low was established in Šumava, where the temperature plummeted to minus 30.2 degrees Celsius (minus 22.36 degrees Fahrenheit). This reading, taken in hlinište in the South Bohemian part of Šumava, narrowly edged out a 35-year-old record set in 1991 by just 0.2 degrees.
“There is already quiet a lot of cloud cover from the warm front that will cross us today. The coldest reading in this region was recorded in jelení, at minus 27.7 degrees Celsius. Rolava also experienced severe cold, with temperatures dropping to minus 23.1 degrees Celsius overnight.
Wetlands in the Bohemian Paradise experienced an even more extreme low of minus 24.3 degrees Celsius.

The Liberec region also faced frigid conditions, registering minus 22 degrees Celsius in areas like the Jizera Mountains and Stráž pod Ralskem.
Authorities are urging extreme caution,particularly for drivers. Road workers have warned that salt loses its effectiveness at such low temperatures, increasing the risk of icy roads.
