France Culture is expanding its reach, partnering with the Hyper Weekend Festival for the first time to showcase innovative artistic voices and foster intellectual discourse. The collaboration will feature unique performances and masterclasses from acclaimed artists, offering audiences a deeper engagement with contemporary creation.
A New platform for Artistic Expression
The festival will see France Culture providing a platform for artists to share their perspectives and creative processes. This initiative underscores the organizationS commitment to transmitting knowledge and opening new spaces of thought, according to a statement released by France Culture.
Imany’s “Poetry Moment” Blends Verse and Music
Singer-songwriter Imany will take center stage with “Poetry Moment,” a special event curated for the Hyper Weekend Festival. The artist, known for her soulful blend of folk and pop – first gaining recognition in 2011 with the album The Shape of a Broken Heart – will share ten poems that have profoundly influenced her life and work, including two original pieces penned by herself.
The performance promises a captivating interplay between spoken word and musical improvisation. readings by an actor will be interwoven with the musical contributions of bassist Ludovic Bruni, creating a sensitive dialogue between words and sounds. “Poetry Moment d’Imany” is hosted by Camille Renard, head of digital projects and podcasts at France Culture, and directed by Cassandre Puel. the event will be broadcast from february 13 to 26 on the France Culture channel, franceculture.fr, and the Radio France application.
The event will be held on Friday, January 23, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Agora, with free entry available upon reservation.
Thylacine Explores “Musical Disorientation” in Masterclass
The Hyper Weekend Festival will also host a Masterclasse led by electronic music composer and producer Thylacine. In partnership with the National Music Center, the masterclass will delve into the concept of “disorientation” as a catalyst for creativity.
Thylacine’s work is deeply informed by his travels across diverse landscapes – including Argentina, the Faroe Islands, and Namibia – and his exploration of varied aesthetic traditions. He views movement and a sense of being untethered as essential drivers of his musical writing, crafting immersive and nomadic creations.
The masterclass, hosted by Zoé Sfez, producer of The Musical Series on France Culture, will take place on Saturday, January 24, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Studio.
