A sophisticated criminal bunker, complete with armored doors and hidden passages, has been dismantled in the Mezcalapa–Ocuilapa region of Chiapas, Mexico, following an inter-institutional operation. The raid, conducted this Friday, resulted in the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of weapons, a stolen vehicle, and evidence linked to serious crimes including kidnapping, drug trafficking, and extortion.
The property served as a central hub for criminal operations, according to state authorities, where individuals were allegedly held against their will and illicit activities were coordinated. The dismantling of this facility represents a significant blow to criminal activity in the region.
Operation Targets Key Criminal Logistics Point
The Secretary of People’s Security, Oscar Alberto Aparicio Avendaño, reported that the operation was the culmination of a sustained effort deployed in the towns of Ocuilapa and El Carrizal. Elements of the People’s Security Secretariat successfully entered the property, identifying it as a crucial point for criminal logistics in the area.
“This seizure is the result of a robust and permanent operation,” Aparicio Avendaño stated.
Evidence Seized Points to Extensive Criminal Activity
At the scene, authorities recovered a stolen vehicle and a long gun, alongside video surveillance equipment and documentation related to illegal charges. Further evidence suggests connections to kidnapping, drug trafficking, and extortion, prompting an expansion of the investigation to identify additional members of the criminal cell.
The property’s fortified structure – featuring armored doors, secret passages, and strategically positioned surveillance and attack points – underscored its purpose as a facility designed to withstand law enforcement operations and facilitate criminal activities.
Four Suspects Detained, Criminal Capacity Diminished
Throughout the week leading up to the raid, authorities detained four members of the criminal group, including what officials described as the operational arm of the regional leader. In addition to the arrests, four long weapons and another stolen vehicle were seized.
According to a senior official, these actions have “significantly reduce[d] the operational and logistical capacity” of the criminal organization operating in the area.
Crackdown on Criminal Disinformation Networks
The investigation extends beyond the physical dismantling of the bunker, with authorities actively working to dismantle networks spreading false information linked to criminal groups. A digital page disseminating such content has already been deleted by court order, and legal proceedings are underway against other platforms involved.

This multi-faceted approach signals a commitment to not only disrupt criminal operations but also to counter the narratives that support them, ultimately aiming to restore security and stability to the region of Chiapas.
