Hapcheon-gun Encourages Hometown Support with Lunar New Year Donation Drive
To bolster participation in the Hometown Love Donation System, Hapcheon-gun will maintain regular operations during the Lunar New Year holiday, from February 9th to February 13th, and is launching a special event to incentivize giving.
Hapcheon-gun’s initiative aims to promote a culture of donation by highlighting the continuous availability of the Hometown Love Donation System, even during traditionally observed holidays. Donors contributing more than 100,000 won to Hapcheon-gun during the event period, and selecting a gift in return, will be automatically entered into a drawing – no separate application is required.
A total of 50 winners will be randomly selected to receive prizes, including merchandise featuring Hapcheon-gun’s mascot, ‘Byulkung’ – a doll and keyring – as well as a variety of other gifts representing local specialties. Winners will be notified individually on February 17th.
“We designed this event to provide an opportunity for individuals to demonstrate their support for their hometown through donations during the Lunar New Year,” stated a public relations manager for Hapcheon-gun. “We are committed to revitalizing the Hometown Love Donation System through engaging promotions and impactful community projects.”
The Hometown Love Donation System allows individuals to donate up to 20 million won annually to local governments outside of their registered address. In return, donors receive tax benefits – a full credit for donations up to 100,000 won, a 44% credit for amounts up to 200,000 won, and a 16.5% credit for donations exceeding 200,000 won – and are eligible for return gifts valued at 30% of their donation amount, typically consisting of local products.
Furthermore, Hapcheon-gun recognizes donors with a “Hapcheon Affectionate Certification” and offers discounted or free access to facilities operated by the local government. Donations can be made online via the ‘Hometown Love eum’ website, through various mobile banking apps including People, Corporate, Shinhan, Hana, and Nonghyup, or in person at any Nonghyup branch nationwide.
This initiative underscores Hapcheon-gun’s dedication to fostering community engagement and leveraging the Hometown Love Donation System to support local development.
