De’Aaron Fox Named to 2026 NBA All-Star Game, Replacing Giannis Antetokounmpo
The San Antonio Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox has been selected to replace injured Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo in the 2026 NBA All-Star Game, the league announced. This marks Fox’s second All-Star selection and comes as the Spurs maintain a strong position in the Western Conference.
Antetokounmpo’s Injury Opens Door for Fox
Antetokounmpo will be unable to participate in the All-Star Game due to a right calf strain. The Bucks forward, a 10-time All-Star, was voted a starter for Team World. His absence creates an opportunity for Fox, who has been a key contributor to the Spurs’ success this season.
Fox’s Stellar Season Earns All-Star Nod
In his ninth NBA season, Fox is averaging 19.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 1.27 steals in 45 games. He was also recognized for his performance in the Emirates NBA Cup 2025, earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team after averaging 22.3 points, 7.7 assists, and 2.00 steals during the Spurs’ run to the Championship Game.
The 6-foot-3 guard’s impact extends beyond individual statistics. He has been instrumental in leading San Antonio to a 38-16 record, placing them second in the Western Conference.
Roster Adjustments and All-Star Game Format
With Fox joining USA Stripes, Miami Heat guard Norman Powell, who has Jamaican ties, will shift from USA Stripes to Team World. The 75th NBA All-Star Game will be held on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 5 p.m. ET at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif., and will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock.
The game will feature a new format: a round-robin mini-tournament with four 12-minute games, pitting two U.S. teams – USA Stars and USA Stripes – against a team of international players, Team World. Full team rosters are available [here](URL placeholder).
Spurs Well-Represented in All-Star Game
Fox will be joined in the All-Star Game by Spurs teammate Victor Wembanyama (representing Team World) and head coach Mitch Johnson (leading USA Stripes). This strong representation underscores the success the Spurs are experiencing this season and the rising prominence of their key players.
