Bogotá and Soacha residents should prepare for planned water service interruptions from March 3rd through March 6th, 2026, as the Empresa de Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Bogotá (EAAB) undertakes essential maintenance and repair work on the city’s water network. The EAAB has announced a detailed schedule of cuts, impacting several neighborhoods across both municipalities. These temporary suspensions are intended to minimize the risk of more significant disruptions caused by potential failures in the aging infrastructure.
The planned work focuses on preventative maintenance and repairs to both water pipes and related components, aiming to improve the overall reliability and quality of water service for residents. According to the EAAB, these interventions are crucial for preventing major damage and ensuring a consistent water supply in the long term. While inconvenient, the agency emphasizes that these short-term disruptions are necessary to safeguard the city’s water infrastructure.
The most extensive cuts are scheduled for Tuesday, March 3rd. In the Barrios Unidos locality, residents of Muequetá and La Esperanza, specifically those between Calle 57 and Calle 68, and Carrera 14 and Carrera 24, will experience an outage lasting up to 24 hours, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Similarly, in Chapinero, the El Chicó, Chicó Norte, and Chicó Norte II Sector areas – bounded by Carrera 15 to Carrera 45 and Calle 88 to Calle 100 – will be without water for the same duration, starting at 8:00 a.m. These outages are as well attributed to preventative maintenance.
Specific Neighborhoods Affected
Beyond Barrios Unidos and Chapinero, several other areas will experience water cuts during the four-day period. In Bosa, residents of Bosa Centro and Bosa La Estación, between Carrera 75A and Carrera 80, and Calle 57 and Calle 65H, will be affected for 24 hours starting at 10:00 a.m. On March 3rd. Teusaquillo’s Ortezal neighborhood, between Calle 22 and Calle 22A, and Carrera 44C and Carrera 50, will also face a 24-hour interruption beginning at 10:00 a.m. Due to a hydrant replacement.
The disruptions extend into the southern parts of the city. Usme, encompassing La Cabaña, Doña Liliana, Villa Diana, Los Soches, Juan José Rondon I, Los Arrayanes, Tocaimita Oriental, Pepinitos, and Tocaimita Sur – between Calle 76 Sur and Calle 92 Sur, and Carrera 6D Este and Carrera 15 Este – will be without water for 24 hours starting at 10:00 a.m. Tunjuelito’s Samoré neighborhood, between Calle 47A Sur and Calle 47B Sur, and Carrera 28 and Carrera 33, will also experience a 24-hour outage beginning at the same time.
Why These Interruptions Are Necessary
The EAAB has stated that these planned cuts are a proactive measure to address potential issues before they escalate into larger, more disruptive emergencies. According to Pulzo, these interruptions ultimately contribute to improving the quality and pressure of the water service throughout the city.
Staying Informed and Preparing

The EAAB is also urging residents to report any irregularities or prolonged outages beyond the scheduled timeframe. The agency’s customer service channels will be available to address concerns and provide assistance throughout the maintenance period.
The EAAB will continue these maintenance operations through March 6th, 2026. Residents should check the official sources for any updates or changes to the schedule. The next official update regarding the progress of the maintenance work and any potential extensions to the outage schedule is expected on the evening of March 6th, 2026.
