A massive overnight Russian ballistic missile and drone barrage struck multiple regions across Ukraine, killing at least 10 civilians—including children—and injuring more than 50 others, officials said Thursday. The heavy bombardment prompted NATO to scramble its warplanes after one of the missiles crossed Ukraine’s western border into Poland.

Regional Casualties and Infrastructure Damage
The strikes hit heavily populated areas and infrastructure across several Ukrainian regions:
* Dnipropetrovsk Region: An attack killed six people and wounded 10 others. Among the dead were a 6-year-old girl and boys aged 11 and 17 in the area of Kryvyi Rih, where the children’s parents were also killed in the same strike. Two more children were pulled alive from the rubble of an ordinary home blown to smithereens by a ballistic missile. * Lviv: A cruise missile attack on the western city killed one person and wounded over 30, including children aged 6, 13, and 15. * Poltava Region: A drone struck warehouses, resulting in one fatality. * Kyiv: Russian forces struck the capital with ballistic missiles, killing a 31-year-old man and wounding two others, according to the National Police press service. More than 56,000 people sheltered in the city’s subway stations overnight. * Kherson: Near the front line, Russian forces dropped three glide bombs on an industrial zone, killing a 56-year-old man.
Targeting and Military Context
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that its forces targeted Ukrainian air bases, arms factories, and military telecommunications and logistics facilities, including drone factories, storage depots, and plants for missiles, aircraft repairs, electronics, and chemicals. Conversely, Ukrainian long-range drones and missiles have battered Russia’s oil sector, causing a fuel crisis, and have targeted logistics centers operated by the Russian e-commerce giant kyivindependent.com.
The strikes follow recent retail warehouse incidents inside Ukraine as well. A Russian drone strike previously hit a warehouse belonging to the Ukrainian online retailer kyivindependent.com in Brovary, killing one employee and injuring seven others.
