The Destin Daniel Cretton-directed sequel continues to pull off impressive box office feats. That pace beats the eight days it took Disney and Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame
to reach the same milestone back in 2019.
Breaking Records at the Domestic Box Office
With this milestone, the film becomes the 23rd movie in box office history to gross north of $500M at the North American box office. The all-time list remains led by 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens
, which pulled in $936.6M. That film required 10 days to pass the half-billion mark Stateside, while the previous franchise entry, Spider-Man: No Way Home,
took 12 days in 2021.
Opening Weekend Projections and Final Figures
The record-breaking run follows a massive opening weekend across the United States and Canada. Sony Pictures announced that Spider-Man: Brand New Day
pulled in an estimated $360 million in ticket sales.
Studio projections on the Sunday prior to the announcement anticipated an opening of $355 million across 4,487 theaters, which would have narrowly missed the 2019 Avengers: Endgame
record of $357 million. However, the fourth Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland outperformed expectations through a stronger-than-projected Sunday frame, pushing it past the previous opening-weekend high.
Midweek Strength and Theater Allocations
The momentum continued into the workweek. On Wednesday alone, the film grossed $32.7M, securing the second-best Wednesday earnings ever recorded for a non-opening title. That daily figure sits behind only The Force Awakens,
which brought in $38M on December 23, 2015.

Following Wednesday’s totals, the running cumulative gross for “Brand New Day” reached an estimated $508.8M. The release also benefits from exhibition terms heading into its second weekend: while IMAX auditoriums were not part of the opening suite, the film retains all Premium Large Format screens for its sophomore frame.
Sophomore Frame Projections and Counterprogramming
The record for the highest-grossing second weekend belongs to Force Awakens’ second weekend of $149.2M. While new counterprogramming arrives in theaters—including Universal’s romantic comedy One Night Only,
Eli Roth’s unrated horror feature Ice Cream Man,
and Searchlight’s R-rated comedy Super Troopers 3
—the web-slinger’s box office dominance faces minimal direct tentpole competition.
