Matchmaking platform Sail.game has introduced a complimentary Entry Cruise tier for PC and console game developers ahead of Gamescom. Available through August 31 with the promo code SAILFREE, the temporary free tier provides project card creation, publisher matchmaking, and direct investor contact without the usual €99 charge.

The gaming industry features titles that never make it to market simply because their creators lack the time, network, or capital required for months of cold outreach. To bridge that gap, matchmaking platform Sail.game is introducing a free tier for PC and console developers ahead of Gamescom. Starting immediately and running through August 31, creators can bypass the platform’s standard €99 fee by applying the promo code SAILFREE.

While the promotional tier is time-limited, developers who claim the offer during Gamescom secure lifetime access for their game. The package includes project card creation for structured project profiles, matchmaking based on acquisition criteria such as genre, platform, budget, and development stage, notifications when publishers view or shortlist a project, and direct contact options for interested investors.

Digital Scouting and Industry Realities

The matchmaking platform Sail.game was launched earlier this year by CEO Vladimír Geršl and managing director Guillaume Jamet. The ecosystem currently hosts more than 230 verified publishers and investors, having facilitated over 23,000 user interactions since its inception.

“There are many strong games that struggle to reach the right people, not because the projects lack potential, but because developers simply don’t have the time, network, or budget for months of cold outreach.”

Geršl noted that his team brings almost 25 years of games industry experience to the table, transforming long-standing contacts into an active network of publishers. That accumulated knowledge powers the platform’s digital scouting capabilities, connecting studios directly with partners who are actively seeking specific project types.

Balancing Platform Integrity and Accessibility

While higher subscription tiers on the platform continue to offer additional exposure and features, company executives maintain that the temporary Entry Cruise package is fully sufficient to help developers become discoverable and secure relevant publishing partners. For qualified publishers, Sail.game’s discovery service remains entirely complimentary.

The platform previously defended its standard pricing structure. Jamet explained that the usual €99 price point serves as a necessary gate to maintain the integrity of the ecosystem. According to company leadership, development teams routinely spend considerably more money and man-hours on travel, physical events, or online showcases that yield highly uncertain outcomes.

“Thanks to our partners, we can offer this temporary free access, enabling more studios to secure funding while focusing on crafting outstanding games.”

With partner and sponsor support enabling this temporary access window, studio leadership hopes to widen the talent pool. Developers utilizing the promotion can concentrate on building their projects while leveraging the platform’s network to catch the attention of suitable publishing partners.
