Because the Tennessee Titans retain the intellectual property rights to the Oilers brand following their 1997 relocation, the Texans cannot wear actual throwbacks. That unresolved history has generated friction between the franchises. Back in April 2024, Texans co-owner Hannah McNair asserted that Houston takes a lot of pride in the uniforms, and you know, Tennessee doesn’t care as much. Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Jaguars incorporated subtle feline spotting into their jersey numbers and bold black pants. Hidden within the spot patterns are the names of local Jacksonville neighborhoods, while the inner neckline displays the city’s alternative moniker “Bold City” alongside a callback to the franchise’s 1995 birth year.
