As Apple prepares for its annual fall hardware showcase, leaks concerning the physical design and aesthetic choices for the upcoming flagship devices have intensified. Industry tipsters have zeroed in on the color palette for the upcoming flagship series, pointing toward a significant pivot away from previous generations.
Color Lineup Shifts to Three Options and Drops Silver
Multiple reports from regular industry tipsters indicate that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will be offered in a trimmed-down selection of three finishes. Weibo user Fixed Focus Digital reported that the devices have entered mass production and will launch in sky blue, black, and a brand-new burgundy shade described as Dark Cherry. This aligns with details shared by longtime leaker Sonny Dickson, who posted an image of SIM card trays in Silver, Dark Cherry, and Sky Blue. However, Dickson’s imagery conflicts with Fixed Focus Digital’s assertion that a silver variant has not been spotted in manufacturing supply chains, illustrating the conflicting narratives surrounding the hardware rollout.
If the three-color rumor proves accurate, Apple will replace the entire shade lineup from the previous generation. The iPhone 17 Pro previously debuted in Cosmic Orange, Deep Blue, and Silver. The anticipated absence of a white or silver option breaks a long-standing tradition in which Apple offered a light neutral shade with every Pro model generation since the iPhone 11 Pro introduced in 2019.
