The rap titan took the stage at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium around 8:37 p.m. local time, donning a Yankees cap and shades for the opening night of his Jay-Z 30 concert series. It was his first solo headline performance in the United Kingdom since October 2013, when he played The O2 during his Magna Carta World Tour.
The evening started with a dramatic introduction from actor Idris Elba. He opened up the show saying the spoken-word intro from the artist’s 2007 song American Gangster
, drawing on his connection to the crime film of the same name. London, you ready?!
