Tehran: Russian President Putin has toured Ukraine to seek Iran’s support for military action against Ukraine.

Putin visited Iran’s capital Tehran on Tuesday, his second foreign trip since Russia launched military operations in February.

During the trip, Putin held talks with Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and Turkish President Erdogan. They also consulted on global food crises.

Regarding the Russian war in Ukraine, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Pomeni said, “If Iran had not taken military action against Ukraine, NATO forces would have attacked Russia. The West is facing an independent and strong Russia.”

US President Joe Biden traveled to the Middle East last week. In reaction to this trip, Putin has undertaken this trip to show Russia’s international presence on the Ukraine issue.

Moreover, the meeting between the leaders of the two countries becomes important in the context of the economic sanctions imposed by the Western countries on both Iran and Russia.

Russia went to war with Ukraine because of its decision to join the European Union. This battle has been going on for months. Millions of people have migrated as refugees to countries including Poland due to the war. The Ukraine-Russia war has also caused a major economic downturn worldwide.

In this situation, Russian forces are currently conducting missile attacks in the regions of Severodonetsk and Kharkiv in the eastern part of Ukraine.
