Dikamba Mutombo (Reuters)
An official statement issued by the NBA and the player’s family today (Saturday) states that the league’s global ambassador and member of the league’s Hall of Fame, Dikamba Mutombo, is currently undergoing treatment for a tumor on his head. As mentioned, the actor was elected a member of the Hall of Fame in April 2014.
The 52-year-old former basketball player is considered one of the best defensive players in the history of the league and is ranked second on the list of the leading blockers in the history of the league. The American holds the record together with Ben Walls when both won the defensive player of the season title four times.
The message reads: “He is receiving the best possible treatment and is in excellent spirits. The actor and his family are asking for privacy at this time so they can focus on treatment, and are grateful for everyone’s prayers.”
