New York: UN A resolution against Russia was passed in the General Assembly meeting. 73 countries, including India, did not participate in the referendum on this resolution.

Russia declared war on Ukraine at the end of last February. The war between the two countries has been going on for the past 9 months.

In this context, the UN accused Russia of violating international law in the Ukraine issue. The resolution was brought in the General Assembly meeting the day before yesterday. This resolution was filed on behalf of 50 countries including the United States.

During the debate on the resolution, Ukrainian ambassador Serhiy Kets Ledlia said, “Russia, which suffered a war about 77 years ago, is a member of the UN. Appealed to the council and received compensation. Currently, that country is invading and attacking Ukraine in violation of international law. Hundreds have died.

Property worth crores has been damaged. Russia should pay compensation for this. Be held accountable for war crimes. That country should be given due punishment,” he said.

As Russian ambassador Vassily Nibenzia says, “The UN A council is not a court. Some countries have resorted to court appeals. It’s funny that countries that act in violation of international law blame us. All over the world, assets and bank accounts belonging to Russia have been frozen. Western countries are supplying weapons to Ukraine with Russian money. This is a violation of international law,” he alleged.

Finally a vote was taken on the resolution. 94 countries, including the United States and Britain, voted in favor of the resolution. 14 countries including China, Belarus, North Korea, Iran, Russia and Syria voted against the resolution. 73 countries including India did not participate in the referendum. The resolution was passed on the basis of majority vote.
