The European Mediterranean Seismological Center said on Saturday that a 5.01 magnitude earthquake struck western Turkey.

The center stated that the earthquake shook western Turkey on Saturday morning, specifically in southern Karabağlar and northwest of Kusadasi, noting that it occurred at around 05:19 UTC.

He added that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 12 kilometers.

On Thursday, another earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 struck the eastern region of Turkey, according to what the center itself reported, adding that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.

It is noteworthy that on February 6, 2023, a double earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, the first measuring 7.7 degrees, and the second measuring 7.6 degrees. They were followed by thousands of violent aftershocks, which claimed the lives of tens of thousands of people, in addition to massive destruction in a number of areas.
