A doctor ordered to reimburse 56,000 euros to the department of Isère

by time news

In the town of Avenières Veyrins-Thuellin (Isère), we are waiting for a new general practitioner like the messiah. “And we thought we had finally found it at the start of the year,” says the mayor, Myriam Boiteux. It must be said that its 8,000 citizens have only two doctors who continue to practice despite their respective ages of 68 and… 78 years. The newcomer, Dr. Rachid Setaihi, had announced that he would work part-time in the locality.

But everything went off the rails when the departmental council of the College of Physicians challenged its installation. For its president Pascal Jallon, “this doctor talked about helping out two and a half days a week more than really settling in Les Avenières. This is insufficient for the post and would prevent another doctor, more involved, from taking the place. »

In Les Avenières, “the emergency is to have a doctor above all”

The mayor, exasperated, rebels against the Order. “He criticizes the practitioner for not living there and for refusing to make home visits. But the urgency is to have a doctor above all. The situation is grotesque! Another file with more half-days of presence was again refused.

It was then that the department of Isère raised another problem. He had offered a scholarship of 56,000 euros to Rachid Setaihi, provided that he settled exclusively in Isère for at least 570 days. But the latter has actually put his suitcases in another medical desert, in Meximieux (Ain), an hour by car, in order to honor another scholarship of 1,200 euros per month. It had been issued under the Public Service Commitment Contract (CESP), managed by the ARS. “This doctor wanted to play on two tables, which is not allowed. The contract is not respected, he will have to reimburse the public money to the department, ”claims Jérôme Charvin, deputy director of the president’s cabinet.

In the meantime, the Avenières are still waiting for their doctor.
