Daughter of the director of Journal of debates, a leading daily newspaper in the 19th century in the field of the arts, notably thanks to the contributions of Théophile Gautier and Hector Berlioz, Louise Bertin (1805-1877) had a fate somewhat comparable to that of Lili Boulanger (1893-1918) , her state of health having condemned her from adolescence to keep the room if not the bed.
