A fragment of the moon was found near the Earth

An article appeared in Communications Earth & Environment magazine, which claims that the Kamooalev asteroid, located near the Earth, is a fragment of the Moon.

The publication specifies that Kamooaleva is a quasi-satellite of the Earth. This means that the asteroid was temporarily captured by gravity or is in the nearest orbit.

Kamooaleva was discovered in 2016. Its diameter is 45-60 meters. After analyzing the reflection spectrum of the asteroid and its orbit, scientists came to the conclusion that it used to be part of the moon. It is specified that Kamooaleva was fixed in orbit about 500 years ago.
