*A gang of cats who keep stealing milk*; Officials ring the bell

by time news

Madurai: The authorities should put an end to the incidents of milk packets being smuggled by some people in vehicles that distribute milk packets early in the morning in Madurai Aavin.

5 lakh packets of milk are produced per day on behalf of Aavin and distributed through vehicles. For this, more than 40 private vehicles are operated on contract basis. Vehicles ply various routes to distribute milk packets made at night from 3:00 am onwards to depots. Controversy has arisen that more than a hundred liters of milk packets are regularly stolen from some vehicles every day, and since the contract employees do not have to monitor this, they do not take much ‘risk’. In this way alone, many Rs. Honest employees allege that there is a loss of several lakhs.

Employees said: Every day at least four vehicles are found stealing milk and confiscated. They buy drivers who steal by writing ‘No more milk theft’ on their name and let them go. No drastic action.

Earlier, higher officials including the general manager used to conduct surprise raids inside milk production units at night and take action on the spot against the culprits. There was fear that the salary would be affected. At present, the officers themselves often do not come for inspection. Contract workers are on duty at places like loading milk packets, checking vehicles and sending them out. As a result, theft cannot be prevented and action cannot be taken against them. They said that the authorities should at least take measures to ring bells for ‘stealing cats’.
